What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships allow businesses to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training and traditional learning
A way for your new or existing employees, to gain formal qualifications whilst undertaking their real job.
By the end of their apprenticeship, they will have gained the skills and knowledge needed to enhance your business from within.

The Apprenticeship Levy

The levy was launched to encourage employers to use apprenticeship programmes, either for new staff or to upskill an existing workforce, to help reduce the skills gaps within England.

The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK with a pay bill over £3m each year to make an investment in apprenticeships.

Non-Levy Apprenticeships

Those with an annual wage bill under £3m do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy.

For employers with 50 or more employees 95% of each apprenticeship is funded by the government whilst a 5% investment is required by the employer to enhance the skills of their employee, employers may also be eligible for a £1000 incentive payment if the apprentice is aged 16 – 18.
